Art for Ubin of her characters Via and Jack the peahound!  Since Jack is part peacock, I wanted to get some of that iridescent look into his fur that peacocks have.  :3  I wish I had Via’s hair!

Oh Caterpie. I was having such a hard time finding you interesting, so I used you as an excuse to practice with painter. You’re almost cute to me now. 

I downloaded the trial version of corel painter for fun after Kelley’s demo the other day! I gotta say, painting in painter is much more enjoyable than painting in photoshop. It can also be very very frustrating, but totally worth the effort.

I went to the Mountain View A la Carte & Art Festival this weekend and this artist’s work just blew me away. I really wanted an original but in the end settled for a print (for now), but the reproductions really do not do his work justice. His “paintings” are fashioned from polymer clay and retains this beautifully milky quality and I love how subtly three-dimensional it was. The colors are also much more vibrant in person.
